A well-established consumer-focused organization with a complex nationwide distribution network is seeking a Head of Distribution to lead and continuously optimize its end-to-end distribution and transportation operations across Mexico.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring cost-efficient, safe, and high-service distribution, overseeing routing strategy, fleet performance, last-mile delivery, and operational KPIs, while leading large operational teams and partnering closely with commercial and supply chain leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nationwide distribution and transportation operations, ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
- Design, implement, and optimize routing strategies, fleet utilization, and dynamic routing models to improve productivity and service levels.
- Ensure deliveries to a large national customer base, maintaining high standards of service and reliability.
- Drive a strong Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) culture across all warehouses, routes, and driver teams.
- Implement and promote best-in-class safety practices to prevent and control accidents.
- Monitor and optimize key distribution KPIs, including cost of distribution, perfect order, truck fill rateli>Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, service excellence, and accident reduction.
- Coordinate logistics execution for new product launches, ensuring seamless integration into existing routes.
- Manage transportation-related costs, including fuel, insurance, accidents, and external logistics services.
- Maintain strong relationships with transport providers, insurance partners, and logistics vendors.
- Act as the escalation point for operational incidents and crisis management, including accidents, weather disruptions, and force majeure events.
- Partner closely with commercial teams to support route coverage, drop size optimization, item mix, and strategic commercial KPIs.
- Ensure the organization remains at the forefront of distribution systems and routing technologies.
- Lead, develop, and retain large operational teams, working closely with Talent teams on hiring, performance, and engagement.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, or transportation, preferably within consumer, FMCG, or high-volume distribution environments.
- Strong expertise in routing optimization, cost control, and nationwide distribution models.
- Proven experience leading drivers, route teams, and operational staff.
- Solid understanding of last-mile delivery, safety regulations, and operational KPIs.
- Previous exposure to commercial or sales environments is a plus.
- Structured, hands-on leader with strong execution and problem-solving capabilities.
- Fluent English is mandatory (business-level communication with regional and global stakeholders).
