Quality Plant Engineering Leader Job Description

Job Purpose: To ensure customer satisfaction, warranty results in-field, and plant efficiency, the Quality Plant Engineering Leader (QPEL) leads/supports warranty convergence within their perimeter, supports internal quality convergence, supplier quality, manages product/process evolutions in serial life, and supports plant launch activities.

Location: The QPEL is expected to maintain a daily on-site presence at the plant for effective operational support and coordination.

Reporting Structure: The QPEL reports directly to the designated leadership within the Product Development Team (PDT) and has a dotted line to the Quality Plant Engineering Manager (QPEM) or Quality Plant Manager (QPM). They supervise the QPE team within their perimeter.

Principle Relationships: Main interactions include daily with QPM and manufacturing operations, weekly with the Change Management Leader, regular meetings with functional managers and cross-functional teams, and interactions with suppliers, dealerships, and propulsion engineers as needed.

Operational Context: The QPEL acts as the voice of the customer, drives quality improvements, supports product and process modifications, and manages retrofit activities post-launch.

Core Missions and Activities: Building and managing the QPE team, ensuring problem-solving efficiency, supporting KPI convergence, conducting skills mapping, and resolving systemic quality issues. They monitor field quality, oversee supplier relationships, ensure internal quality standards, and support process controls and production security.

Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering fields, minimum 8 years of experience, leadership ability, analytical skills, effective communication, and language proficiency in plant language and English.

Preferred Requirements: Master’s degree, Green Belt certification, and experience in World Class Manufacturing.
