A new edtech startup is seeking a UX/UI designer to shape the customer experience and create high-fidelity designs. The role involves designing user interfaces, guiding users through chatbot flows, and conducting market research. Ideal candidates will have 2-4 years of experience, proficiency in Figma, and an ownership mindset.
We are a new edtech startup focusing on making foundational business education programs for UMKM business owners. We are very early stage and designing our product interface. We are aiming to do a closed beta launch with some early courses to get market feedback within the next few months.
This role will serve as the primary UX/UI designer on the team, working directly with the product team. You would have an opportunity to help shape our design system and implement some of the core user interfaces in our customer experience. This may involve designing core AI chatbot flows to help guide users in their learning journey.
We are looking for someone interested in working as a team member and that would bring ownership and independent thinking. This could be a good role for an ambitious UI/UX designer to have a major impact and get experience working within AI product flows. You will also be working with a team familiar with globally leading 0-1 product development approaches and experience across multiple startups + industries.
We would prefer a really sharp candidate with baseline design experience over less sharp but more experienced. This role could potentially be a contract-to-hire opportunity
Target Experience: 2-4 years
Must Haves
Working proficiency in English (will be working directly with an American who does not yet speak Bahasa)
Competency in creating high-fidelity designs in Figma
Basic experience with user-centered design
Ownership mindset: Initiative and ability to work with others to define concrete designs and tasks from ambiguous projects… we are looking for someone who can also help guide our thinking
Willingness to receive feedback and redirect to create the best possible solution for our product and business
Ability to commute to Jakarta 2-3 times a week

Openness to learning new tools and paradigms as the job requires
Strong creative problem-solving ability
Strong emotional empathy
Prior experience contributing on an end-to-end software product
Prior experience with information architecture and journey mapping
Ability to work 80% asynchronously
Okay with ambiguity and changing directions that can come in a startup environment

Prior experience with user experience research
Interest in startup environment and using this as an opportunity to grow
Team contributor mindset that’s open to contributing to things slightly out of scope to achieve team milestones (but not necessarily beyond working hours)
Prior experience creating animations in a tool like Rive or Lottie
Desire to create creative, non-standard, high-quality experiences
Experience designing for or working with UMKM businesses
General Scope of Work:
Prospect and user research on key areas of market demand and user contexts
Design website landing and public navigation pages
Create and evaluate prototypes of increasing fidelity with customers and team members
Create high-fidelity designs for product implementation
