We’re looking for a Lead role in IT Development team who can guide a product engineering team through the beautiful chaos of retail technology. Someone who writes clean code, mentors developers, and ensures that every feature—big or small—moves from idea to production.
This role is for the steady hand who can balance legacy realities with forward-looking architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Own the technical design, architecture decisions, and code quality across modules.
- Guide dev teams through solutioning for POS, OMS, ERP integrations, store mobility, e-commerce, and other.
- Break down requirements into well-defined technical tasks with clear estimates.
- Review code, enforce standards, and ensure engineering best practices remain sacred.
Delivery & Development Oversight
- Work closely with Project Manager & Product Owners to plan sprints, releases, and development timelines.
- Ensure dev tasks are delivered on schedule, with proactive follow-ups and early identification of delays.
- Drive technical grooming sessions, sprint reviews, and release readiness checks.
- Coordinate with QA and DevOps teams for smooth builds, automated testing, CI/CD, and stable deployments.
Architecture & Problem Solving
- Evaluate technical options and propose scalable, future-proof solutions.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, system bottlenecks, and integration failures in retail workflows.
- Maintain documentation for architecture, APIs, data flows, and store-level processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Product, UX, Store Ops, and Business teams to convert ideas into feasible tech solutions.
- Manage vendor technical teams and ensure alignment with internal engineering standards.
- Support UAT, pilot rollouts, and critical store releases.
Mentoring
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers—fostering growth, discipline, and smart habits.
- Conduct technical assessments, guide training plans, and shape the team’s engineering maturity.
- Encourage structured thinking, clean coding practices, and responsible innovation.
Strong hands-on experience with retail technology stacks (POS, ERP, OMS, WMS, loyalty, microservices, e-commerce platforms).
Proficiency in
- Frontend: React / Angular
- Databases: SQL/NoSQL, MongoDB, Oracle DB
- APIs: REST, GraphQL
- Integration technologies: KAFKA, RabbitMQ, etc.
- Deep understanding of integrations, middleware, and store-level deployments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in omnichannel architecture and real-time inventory systems.
- Exposure to event-driven or microservices-based retail systems.
- Prior leadership of 4–10 engineers.
