Job Mission

The Sourcing & Feasibility Lead, Indonesia, will serve as Terraformation’s in-country focal point for identifying, assessing, and advancing early-stage forest-carbon and restoration projects through feasibility.

Reporting to the Head of Sourcing, this role will work closely with local partners, government agencies, and consortium counterparts to shape Terraformation’s project pipeline in Indonesia. The Lead will coordinate due diligence, feasibility assessments, and stakeholder engagement to ensure that sourced projects are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with national, donor, and funder priorities.

This position combines external partnership-building and government engagement with cross-functional coordination to move projects efficiently from concept to feasibility confirmation.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Identification & Partnership Development (35%)
  • Lead outreach to identify and evaluate potential project partners and sites aligned with Terraformation’s sourcing strategy and program objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with implementing partners, NGOs, and local institutions to establish credible, investable project opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Terraformation’s Head of Sourcing and the client to align on project pipeline priorities.
  • Support the development of partner, project, and grant documentation consistent with Terraformation’s sourcing and due diligence standards.
2. Feasibility & Portfolio Management (35%)
  • Manage a portfolio of early-stage feasibility assessments for projects and partners, guiding them through Terraformation’s feasibility and technical assessment process.
  • Coordinate across internal teams, including Sourcing, Carbon, Forestry, Social, GIS, and Finance, to ensure technical quality, operational viability, and commercial soundness.
  • Facilitate partner data collection, budget inputs, and assessments.
  • Monitor feasibility and project plans to stay on schedule; identify delivery risks and propose practical mitigation measures.
  • Consolidate findings to recommend which projects should be admitted to the fund.
3. Government & Stakeholder Engagement (20%)
  • Lead engagement with local, provincial, and national government agencies to understand and map requirements and pathways for carbon and/or land rights for projects.
  • Support alignment with Indonesia’s carbon frameworks, including Article 6 and jurisdictional initiatives.
4. Coordination, Reporting & Learning (10%)
  • Maintain regular coordination with the consortium lead to ensure consistent partner management, progress tracking, and program alignment.
  • Contribute to periodic reporting by consolidating project updates, risks, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards and communications standards for all in-country activities.
  • Support capacity-building for partners and facilitate knowledge‑sharing among project teams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in program or project management within international development, environment, forestry, or climate‑change sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage partnerships involving government agencies, donors, and technical organizations.
  • Proven experience coordinating feasibility or early‑stage project development processes
  • Familiarity with Indonesia’s forest‑carbon and land‑use policy landscape, including relevant ministries and permitting processes.
  • Experience working in or alongside donor‑funded programs (e.g., UK PACT, FCDO, ADB, UNDP, GCF).
  • Degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Forestry, Development Studies, Public Policy, or other relevant field).
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Familiarity with carbon standards (Verra, Gold Standard).
