Job Purpose
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for all financial aspects of assigned projects, working closely with Project Managers and Directors. The role involves evaluating, negotiating, managing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks. You will provide commercial input, identify opportunities for cost savings, and ensure the commercial benefits of all contracts are maximised. Key responsibilities include managing contract variations and claims, issuing timely contract notices, overseeing project risk management, and reviewing documentation in the post‑contract stage.
Responsibilities
- Report to the EVP APAC/Head of Commercial to ensure proactive cost control across all business activities.
- Compile and deliver comprehensive financial reports.
- Oversee the bid process for new opportunities.
- Administer cost and variation procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform full contract surveying duties, including evaluating variations, settling accounts, and handling disputes.
- Advise on procurement strategies and compile subcontract and material purchase orders.
- Represent the company at client meetings when required.
- Conduct monthly valuations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare Cost Value Comparison (Profit & Loss) reports for review.
- Assess bids and projects for commercial viability, identifying risks using appropriate management tools.
- Collaborate with project management to ensure health and safety budgets are aligned with deliverables.
- Run weekly cost reports and review them with project managers to highlight variances.
- Liaise with project managers on progress against contract margins.
- Track design and contract changes that impact budgets.
- Develop initial project budgets and agree detailed cost plans with the commercial manager.
- Ensure adherence to business processes and Construction ERP management systems.
- Mentor and support junior members of the commercial department.
- Uphold company values in interactions with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and information security standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role in Datacentre / Telecommunication / B2B.
- Relevant degree preferred but not essential.
- High numeracy and IT proficiency (MS Office, Excel, Project, Word, etc.).
- Well organised, able to meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
- Able to speak English to liaise with Client.
- Prior experience working underFIDIC (Yellow Book) contracts is required.
