Senior Platform Engineer
We are a global technology company working with cloud‑driven organizations to leverage the cloud for business growth and innovation. Our Senior Platform Engineer will be a core contributor to our Engineering teams, based remotely as a full‑time employee in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. We also welcome contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will develop and evolve the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an individual contributor role that requires strong coding skills and hands‑on experience with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Function as an individual contributor within the team: actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, provide constructive support and mentorship, and contribute to a unified technical direction. Also collaborate with feature teams to enable adoption of platform features.
- Architect, Design, and Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): treat infrastructure as sophisticated software, manage lifecycle with Terraform, apply best practices, design reusable modules, implement testing strategies, and ensure predictable provisioning.
- Deploy, Manage, and Optimize Kubernetes Clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS): own deployment, configuration, and maintenance of clusters, manage node groups, network policies, service meshes, upgrades, high availability, monitor health and performance, and address issues proactively.
- Develop and Refine Internal Software Delivery Systems (CI/CD): design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD tailored for platform components, integrating tools like Argo CD or Atlantis, automate build and release, optimize pipeline performance, and reduce deployment times.
- Diagnose, Troubleshoot, and Resolve Platform‑Related Issues: primary point of contact for platform issues, analyze logs and metrics, collaborate with development teams, and contribute to incident response plans and post‑mortems.
- Drive Automation Initiatives to Streamline Operational Tasks and Enhance System Reliability: champion automation, create scripts, tools, and workflows to eliminate manual tasks, reduce human error, and improve reliability.
- Act as a Strategic Partner to Development Teams, Understanding and Addressing Their Infrastructure Needs: foster strong relationships with feature teams, provide guidance on platform capabilities, translate needs into platform product features and roadmaps.
- Drive Development of Internal Platform Product and Services: participate in full software development lifecycle of internal tools and APIs to enhance developer productivity.
- Implement and Enforce Rigorous Security Best Practices and Ensure Compliance with Industry Standards: enforce security practices, manage access control, vulnerability management, data encryption, ensure SOC 2 and GDPR compliance, and conduct security audits and penetration testing.
