Senior Engineer - Water and Wastewater Treatment

Overview: Ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of Amman Mineral Industri’s water and wastewater treatment systems to maintain quality, support plant operations, and comply with environmental and safety standards. This role is crucial in securing adequate quality and quantity of raw and treated water to meet operational needs, particularly for critical equipment such as cooling towers, boiler feedwater, and other process requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the daily operation of the Water and Wastewater Treatment System, including key processes such as coagulation, flocculation, filtration, and disinfection.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and reliability of water and wastewater treatment systems. Conduct technical troubleshooting for issues related to water\'s chemical and physical processes.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of raw and treated water are adequate to meet the plant\'s operational needs for critical equipment like cooling towers, boiler feedwater, and other process requirements.
  • Develop and implement a regular water and wastewater quality monitoring program. Analyze water samples, review lab reports, and take corrective action for any deviations.
  • Supervise the use and availability of chemicals for water and wastewater treatment processes. Ensure the dosage and type of chemicals used are efficient and meet established standards.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and supervise repairs on water and wastewater treatment equipment (e.g., pumps, filters, and instrumentation).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master degree of Engineering in Chemical / Mechanical / Chemistry.
  • Experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment System in Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, preferably in Mineral Processing for 8-10 years.
  • Possess a solid understanding of water and wastewater treatment principles, water cycles, and the dynamics of water distribution networks. Be able to interpret Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) specific to water and wastewater treatment systems. Grasp the fundamentals of water chemistry, hydraulics, and fluid dynamics as applied to water flow and pressure regulation.
  • Have a thorough understanding of major components within a water and wastewater treatment system, including various types of filtration, pumps, chemical dosing systems, pH, and conductivity instrumentation. Understand the operation of process valves, actuators, and control valves within a water and wastewater treatment system.
  • Capable of monitoring operational parameters (e.g., pH, turbidity, flow rates, water levels) and assisting with adjustments to maintain optimal water and wastewater quality and quantity. Familiar with basic start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures for water and wastewater treatment systems. Understand alarm management and response related to system deviations.
  • Communicate clearly and transparently, both verbally and in writing, and be proactive in listening to diverse perspectives and accepting feedback.
  • Actively engage in team collaboration, contribute to achieving shared goals, and effectively resolve disputes.
  • Capable of making effective decisions to resolve daily and operational issues.
