This role is crucial for managing all financial and accounting operations in a dynamic clinical research consulting environment. The Controller will collaborate closely with the CEO and the leadership team, taking ownership of both daily accounting functions and strategic financial planning. This hands‑on position is ideal for someone with substantial experience in accounting and finance, particularly in a service‑oriented or software context, looking to impact financial growth and operational efficiency.

Accountabilities

• Own all accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and month‑end close.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee revenue recognition for diverse consulting engagements and ensure timely client invoicing.
• Assist the CEO with pricing strategy, financial modeling, and profitability analysis.
• Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts, analyze variances, and monitor cash flow.
• Prepare financial reports for the Board of Directors and participate in Board meetings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and coordinate with external partners for audits and tax preparation.
• Maintain and improve accounting systems and implement scalable processes to support growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Proven experience working as a Controller, preferably in professional services or consulting.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and project‑based revenue recognition.
• Advanced Excel skills with experience in financial reporting systems.
• Experience preparing executive- and Board‑level financial reports.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and highly organized individual.
• Strong analytical, modeling, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to translate financial data into clear business insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
