We are seeking a highly capable and experienced General Manager (GM) to lead and oversee the full lifecycle of our Quartz Sand Project. This role requires a leader with proven expertise in mining operations, project management, and commercial execution. The GM will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, and delivering sustainable financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Business Leadership: Develop and execute the project’s business plan, aligning with company strategy and shareholder expectations. Identify and capture market opportunities in glass, solar, semiconductor, and other quartz sand applications. Build partnerships with stakeholders, including government, communities, suppliers, and customers.
- Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of the quartz sand project, from exploration, mining, processing, and logistics to final product delivery. Ensure plant design, commissioning, and production meet quality, volume, and cost targets. Implement strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Own the project’s P&L, including cost control, revenue optimization, and profitability. Negotiate contracts with suppliers, contractors, and customers. Monitor market prices and optimize sales strategies.
- Team & Organization Development: Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team across operations, engineering, supply chain, and sales. Create a performance-driven culture based on accountability, continuous improvement, and ROE (Return on Equity) mindset. Drive knowledge transfer and develop local talent.
- Stakeholder & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local laws, permits, and ESG standards. Manage government relations, community engagement, and industry associations. Represent the company in external forums and strategic negotiations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Chemical Engineering, or Business Administration.
- 15+ years of experience in mining, mineral processing, or industrial projects, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale mineral projects from feasibility to operations.
- Strong knowledge of quartz sand applications (glass, solar, semiconductor, foundry).
- Excellent financial acumen, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management.
- Fluency in English; additional local/regional language preferred.
