Job description

CPI offers a challenging environment that requires independent thinking, collaboration, and pragmatic problem-solving. The Fellowship will be on Part-time basis for a period of 5 months from March 2026 - July 2026.

The Fellow will support the deliverables of CPI’s projects in Indonesia to optimize climate financing sources and the effectiveness of those financing in achieving climate goals, while considering the economic reality in Indonesia.

Under the supervision and guidance of the country office Director, Manager, and Senior Analysts, the Fellow undertakes robust and careful analysis, drawing on methodologies from economics and finance, while considering the public policy and regulations in place. The Fellow will work in close cooperation with a range of external stakeholders (such as government, corporations, academia, and other bodies), as well as with CPI teams in Indonesia and across the globe.

In efforts to accelerate green investment, particularly in the energy sector, CPI works with public and private financing institutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support quantitative and/or qualitative evaluation of economic policies that relate to optimizing climate financing in Indonesia.
  • Support quantitative and/or qualitative evaluation of policies that relate to ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of climate financing in Indonesia.
  • Support quantitative and/or qualitative evaluation of climate policies that may impact the economy of Indonesia.
  • Engage relevant stakeholders throughout the research process (such as government, corporations, academia, research bodies, NGOs, CSOs, and others).
  • Communicate and collaborate with CPI staff working around the globe.
  • Co-produce and edit high-quality CPI products, including full reports, executive summaries, blogs, and presentations.
  • Support effort in identifying and securing new funding opportunities for CPI Indonesia.
  • Keep a close coordination with the project managers under whom the Fellow works.
Qualification and Experience
  • Master’s degree in economics. Students who have almost finished their Master’s education in economics are also welcome to apply.
  • Understanding of policies related to climate issues, sustainable finance, and macroeconomic situations.
  • Research experience, including data collection, data cleaning, and quantitative analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and/or other data analysis and presentation applications/software.
  • Have a basic understanding of financial modelling, several economic models, and econometrics.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English and Indonesian.

Notes about the Position

CPI is hiring for two (2) Economics Fellows, open immediately. The position will be in Jakarta but may occasionally require regional travel. The Fellows will work in CPI Indonesia under a fellowship program that runs for five months. After the fellowship program ends, the Fellows are not necessarily granted an employment opportunity in CPI.

This is a part-time Fellowship program. The Fellows will be hired on consulting contracts; they do not receive a benefits package except for travel reimbursements.
