Overview
Provide strategic reliability leadership for the Process Planning and Strategy Department, supervising a multidisciplinary crew of ~10 condition-monitoring technicians. The role sets the asset-management vision, deploys advanced condition-based maintenance methodologies, and ensures flawless execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective programs to maximize plant availability, optimize life-cycle cost, and uphold company safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- People & Performance Management: Lead and manage a team of 10 technicians, including daily work planning, task assignment, and performance reviews. Provide coaching and mentoring to ensure continuous competency development and succession planning. Conduct annual performance assessments aligned with organizational goals.
- Own and lead the condition monitoring program for rotating and static equipment, covering vibration, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and NDT.
- Condition Monitoring & Asset Health: Design and implement condition monitoring strategies in collaboration with reliability engineers to enhance asset performance. Develop and publish periodic asset health reports based on real-time and historical condition data. Identify and resolve discrepancies between physical assets and CMMS records to ensure data integrity.
- Lead the identification, procurement, and upgrade of condition monitoring hardware, software, and server infrastructure. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and other departments to align condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategies, reporting, and follow-up actions. Research and implement advanced technologies including IoT, automation, and AI-based data collection and analytics to improve monitoring capabilities. Approve intervention work orders and shutdown scopes based on data-driven risk assessments.
- Reliability Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Validate and track corrective actions, ensuring timely closure and reporting trends to senior leadership. Drive cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Project & Budget Management: Prepare and manage the annual reliability budget, including spares, tooling, and external services. Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources to support reliability initiatives and long-term asset performance.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with statutory inspections, SHE regulations, and timely submission of regulatory reports. Promote and uphold the company’s safety culture at the crew level.
Qualifications
- Tertiary degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or higher.
- 10+ years total reliability engineering/condition monitoring experience in heavy industry (mining, oil & gas, power, or petrochemical), including at least 5 years direct supervisory responsibility for a crew of technicians or engineers.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale RCA/FMECA initiatives, implementing RCM or RBI programs, and shrinking unplanned downtime by more than 15%.
- Proven proficiency in CMMS/EAM systems (Ellipse, SAP, or Maximo), advanced condition-monitoring data interpretation and analytics tools, and Project Management Software (MS Project / Primavera).
- Certified Vibration Analyst Level 3 (Mobius Institute) or equivalent; Operational Inspector (POP/POM) recognized by KAIT is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, organizational and time-management skills; effective communication and cross-functional collaboration; ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) and computer literacy across business and maintenance software systems.
