Middleton Sports Club is a private members' club established almost 80 years ago. Sports include cricket, tennis, bowls, hockey, squash, stoolball, and an onsite gym with hi-tech equipment. Additionally, we have a social bar and cater for events in our restaurant with a connecting marquee. To attract members of all ages, we have restructured and identified the need for a Cook to run our kitchen, enabling us to bring catering in-house and supply members with breakfast, bar menu, snacks, etc. This is an ideal role as it is completely new for the club, and we know our members have an 'appetite' for it.

We are seeking someone enthusiastic and experienced to drive the catering function. The successful candidate will work closely with our team, including the club manager and bar staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in catering at any level. As the cook/chef, you will have autonomy to run the kitchen and select a menu that suits the environment and customers. We have a fully modern furnished restaurant used for events, including themed and taster menu evenings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide catering services for the club.
• Design a menu to support the needs of members.
• Support events as required.
• Provide regular updates to the Board of Directors on club performance, challenges, and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with club policies, health and safety, and safeguarding provisions.
• Handle customer feedback and provide solutions.
• Oversee the cleanliness of the kitchen and restaurant, paying attention to health hazards and violations under environmental and health and safety regulations.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Health and hygiene qualification - essential.
• Experience of running a kitchen - essential.
• Proven experience and/or training in health and safety procedures and management - advantageous.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of food hygiene laws and best practices.

Pay: Negotiable based on experience.
