As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team, driving impact across teams, technologies, and projects. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives, serving as a primary decision-maker and a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
In this role, you'll promote impactful changes across teams and projects, managing complex initiatives and fostering innovation. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, representing 24% of the market. We are innovating with new payment methods like JP Coin, expanding into new markets, and enhancing settlement speeds with real-time payments. These advancements require sophisticated technologies to meet regulatory standards and sustain business momentum.

Job responsibilities
- Lead technology and process implementations to achieve strategic objectives.
- Make decisions affecting team resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
- Ensure governance over coding standards, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost of ownership and maintainability.
- Deliver scalable technical solutions across multiple business domains.
- Influence peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the firm's culture.
- Deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
- Adopt and integrate emerging technologies including AI and ML.
- Implement reliable platforms achieving high availability (triple 9s or more).
- Maintain a problem-solving mindset to address technical challenges.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering and extensive practical experience leading technologists in complex technical environments.
- Experience managing and developing cross-functional technical teams.
- Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- Experience leading products as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
- Hands-on cloud-native development experience.
- Expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
- Deep knowledge of technologies such as Pyspark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
- Experience implementing scalable platforms.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with code-level development.
- Understanding of EMEA regulatory frameworks.
- Adept at working across multiple time zones.
- Subject matter expertise in payments.
- Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in software or data engineering disciplines preferred.
