Lecturer (Teaching) in Social Psychology

UCL
London
GBP 30,000 - 50,000
Job description

IOE is UCL Faculty of Education and Society.

Founded in 1902, IOE has been shaping policy and helping government, organisations and individuals navigate a changing society for the last 120 years. We embrace collaboration and excellence to create a future that is inclusive and just, and have been ranked number one for education every year since 2014 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The post holder will be based in the UCL Social Research Institute. The Social Research Institute – formerly the Department of Social Science – in the UCL Institute of Education is one of the leading centres for social research in the UK.

The Thomas Coram Research Unit (TCRU) - part of the Social Research Institute - where the post holders will be based, has a long history and expertise in researching those children and families that are most vulnerable to economic and social adversity.

We are now seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) in Social Psychology to join a vibrant and collegial research environment who will be expected to contribute to TCRU’s research clusters.

You will be expected to contribute to the portfolio of teaching in Social Psychology across the undergraduate provision in SRI (i.e., BSc Social Sciences, BSc Social Sciences with Data Science, and BSc Sociology).

With A PhD in Social Psychology, or a related area of study you will also have evidence of scholarship in Social Psychology on topics relevant to TCRU’s research clusters, including research including work of international profile, with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

Your application form should address all the person specification points and should clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each of the criteria.

It is important that the criteria are clearly numbered and that you provide a response to each one.

For further information please contact Mette Berg & Charlotte Faircloth (tcrudirectors@ucl.ac.uk)

This post is offered from 1st September 2025 for 30 months in the first instance.

As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits.

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

As London’s Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world’s talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong.

We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL’s workforce.

These include people from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds; disabled people; LGBTQI+ people; and for our Grade 9 and 10 roles, women.

Our faculty holds an Athena SWAN Silver award, in recognition of our commitment to advancing gender equality.
