The Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center is hiring a Summer Camp Unit Coordinator and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Pay Range: $21.50 per hour

40 hours per week

Work with the Education Manager to implement the day-to-day activities of the children enrolled in the Camp.

• Must have a keen interest and sincere appreciation for children
• Must be at least twenty-one years of age
• Must complete Camp Staff Orientation
• Minimum of six months experience working or volunteering with school-age children
• Experience with Christian Education Programs for school-age children such as Sunday School or Vacation Bible Study is preferred

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Associates Degree or bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care is strongly preferred

1. Assist with daily activities such as devotions, crafts, mystery programs, recreation, music, drama, lunch, snacks, and trips.
2. Provide supervision and general childcare.
3. Prepare Devotional Time (Bible story or spiritual object lesson, choruses, and prayer) once or twice a week for the entire day camp.
4. Handle all disciplinary actions in accordance with the Camp Manual and report problems immediately to the Education Manager.
5. Clean up and set up activity areas as directed by the Education Manager.
6. Receive and dismiss children daily in the designated area.
7. Assist with camp training for counselors and junior counselors.
8. Assist in developing curriculum for school-aged children.
9. Perform administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, coordinating schedules, and completing reports and records.
10. Assist the Education Manager in overseeing daily activities, camp operations, and programs to ensure quality.
11. Lead and participate in weekly staff meetings and debriefings.
12. Lead with enthusiasm and thoroughness in program delivery.
13. Set a Christian example for children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
14. Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission.
15. Engage in Christian spiritual conversations with the public and within the corps.
16. Recognize spiritual needs and refer individuals to the Corps as appropriate.
17. Complete Camp Staff Orientation, including Keep SAfe Training.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
