Tameside Council is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced
Assistant Team Manager to join our
Learning Disabilities and Autism (LD&A) Team, supporting young people through key transitions into adulthood. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver person-centred, legally compliant, and high-impact social care services.

Responsibilities- Support the Team Manager in the day-to-day leadership, development and supervision of the LD & Transitions team.
- Oversee the transition planning process for young people with LD and/or Autism, ensuring timely and effective support.
- Supervise and support social workers, including authorising care and support plans.
- Promote best practice in line with legal frameworks and local procedures.
- Lead on quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals, families, and service users to ensure a joined-up approach.
- Ensure effective implementation of safeguarding practices and adherence to the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
- Support recruitment, induction, and continuous development of team members.
- Manage team resources and contribute to budget planning and monitoring.
- Contribute to service development and strategic planning through data and feedback.
Requirements- Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
- Significant experience working within Adult Social Care, particularly with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Transitions.
- Proven experience of supervising staff and authorising support plans.
- Strong understanding of statutory responsibilities, legal frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.
- Knowledge of court work and managing complex multi-agency cases.
