Description
We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor within our GB Cement division, reporting to the GB Cement business Health & Safety Manager.
This role is based at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire with periodic travel required to cement depots across GB; some overnight stays may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide pertinent professional advice to others across the Hope Site and our Depots and Terminals within a timely manner to facilitate informed decision making.
- Facilitate incident investigations, including identification of immediate and root causes and the generation of suitable actions.
- Assist with the development and implementation of health & safety programs, including training and competency frameworks.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining a suitable framework to ensure legal compliance regarding health & safety matters.
- Seek out relevant best practices outside the business and sector to bring back and deliver suitable implementation plans.
- Undertake regular audits and inspections to determine compliance with H&S legislative requirements.
- Organise, facilitate, and deliver training as required, and manage training records.
- Oversee the induction programme for visitors and contractor partners when required.
- Engage with other businesses within the Breedon Group.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
- IOSH membership.
- NEBOSH National Diploma - advantageous.
Experience
- Extensive relevant health & safety advisory experience.
- Proven track record in managing health & safety metrics to improve performance.
- Demonstrable auditing competency.
Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of relevant H&S legislation.
- Competent risk assessor.
- Ability to mentor and coach auditors and auditees.
- Knowledge of behaviour-based safety and safety culture development (desirable).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of business management systems, including standards like ISO 45001.
- Awareness of industrial health trends.
- Engagement skills.
- Proficiency in core IT systems.

You should be confident, driven, and dedicated, with strong influencing and leadership skills. Demonstrating self-sufficiency, integrity, and effective stakeholder engagement are essential. The ability to think clearly and maintain control under pressure is also required.
