Job summary
A leading engineering company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specialized in the water sector. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience and be proficient in mechanical engineering design for water projects. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with policies, completing design tasks, and maintaining quality assurance records. Knowledge in water treatment, pumping systems, and asset condition surveys is essential. This role is based in Wythenshawe, United Kingdom.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in mechanical engineering or closely related fields.
- Experience with mechanical engineering designs and deliverables for water projects.
- Capable of leading mechanical engineering roles on small projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Company & Client Policy in the water sector.
- Complete assigned design tasks by the Project Discipline Engineer.
- Maintain auditable records and technical files per CDM requirements.
- Liaise efficiently with associated partners and disciplines.
Skills
- Ensure compliance with Company & Client Policy with respect to water sector requirements.
- Complete specific design tasks as delegated by the Project Discipline Engineer or Engineering Manager as appropriate.
- Ensure work packs are delivered in a timely and cost‑effective manner and in line with Company & Client Project requirements and applicable Company & Client Codes and Standards. Where task forces are mobilised the team members are selected through the SQEP process and are familiar with the appropriate field of work.
- Maintain Quality Assurance, auditable records, and technical files in line with CDM requirements.
- Liaise smoothly and efficiently with other associated partners and disciplines as required.
A Senior Mechanical Engineer – Water is an engineer with specific knowledge and experience within their specialist field and discipline (i.e. SQEP'd – Suitably Qualified Experienced Person).
Capable of producing and checking mechanical engineering designs and deliverables across a range of water projects, and carrying out Lead Mechanical Engineer role on a small project.
Typically a minimum of 6 years’ experience in their discipline or a closely related one.
Proficiency in the delivery of engineering design across a number of work categories.
