The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team, working and learning collaboratively.
- Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, real estate funds, and institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds, with UK, European, and global investment strategies.
- Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and internationally.
- National Markets: We collaborate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds investing in key sectors to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, serving various clients and deal types.
We assist clients in understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving advice across multiple countries and tax streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions, delivering high-quality advice
- Support new business pursuits, proposals, and pitches
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships within Deal Advisory
- Act as a primary contact for clients, legal advisors, and KPMG teams to ensure effective delivery
- Coach and develop colleagues, foster collaboration, and pursue continuous learning
- Prepare and oversee technical advice on UK and international tax issues
- Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
- Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically evaluating their input
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and OECD tax developments
- Understand financial models from a tax perspective
- Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
- Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
- Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a strong interest in transactions
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Strong UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
- Analytical, curious, with a commercial approach to issues and advice
- Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive in driving projects
- Ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships
- Leadership qualities to develop and coach colleagues
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
