Commercial Real Estate Lawyer

• Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months)

About the team and the role

The successful candidate will need to:

• Review and negotiate heads of terms for new property acquisitions;
• Draft and negotiate leases, agreements for lease, sale agreements, transfers and surrenders;
• Perform title due diligence on properties including the raising of searches and enquiries;
• Oversee post-completion matters such as SDLT returns and Land Registry applications;
• Review and negotiate licences for alterations, wayleaves, dilapidations settlement agreements and other property management documents;
• Assist with rent reviews;
• Deal with landlord and tenant issues and liaise with landlords;
• Instruct and supervise external counsel, including managing associated budgets;
• Respond to queries from colleagues and assist them with their real estate/planning-related issues. It will be beneficial to have familiarity with planning law and the ability to spot planning issues in order to refer them for specialist planning advice;
• Produce and assist in giving training to colleagues; and
• Assist with the property aspects of construction and engineering contracts.

In addition, the successful candidate will need to identify and implement good practice, create template documents, and keep up-to-date with new legislation and case law.

Who you are

• Qualified solicitor with 5-7 years’ PQE in commercial property law;
• Experience in private practice (in-house experience is a plus);
• Good academic qualifications;
• Clear drafting technique;
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload;
• Good business acumen and commercially astute;
• Personable, with the ability to work well within a team and build relationships;
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
