DT Technician – Food Technology & Textiles

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (January–July 2026)
Pay: Paid weekly through PAYE

We are partnering with a well-established secondary school in Islington seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to support teachers and students across practical subjects. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

• Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations
• Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage
• Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment
• Supporting food safety compliance

• Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment
• Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons
• Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing
• Organising and maintaining textile resources

• Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH
• Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas
• Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day‑to‑day department needs
• Creating a safe, positive, and well‑organised learning environment

• A practical, hands‑on individual with strong organisational skills
• Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Confident communication skills with young people
• Previous school or workshop experience is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
