Base Location: Perth

The role

SSEN Transmission is looking for a dedicated Commissioning Technician to join our team at our Control Centre in Perth.

In this pivotal role, you will be a technical specialist ensuring the seamless and secure operation of our critical infrastructure. You'll work at the heart of the network, responsible for commissioning, testing, and maintaining the SCADA interfaces that empower our control room engineers to safely manage the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland and deliver a Network for Net Zero.

You will
  • Provide provision of first line support for development, preparation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and upgrade of Transmission Control Centre (TCC) SCADA displays and controls, enabling delivery of a safe and reliable interface for 24/7 Transmission system operations and safety.
  • Ensure Integration of operational data and signalling from the Transmission asset base into the control centre systems and onwards to the GB System Operator to meet our Transmission License, Grid Code and STC obligations.
  • Use and maintain the security of the Data Historian System called PI.
  • Provide the provision of TCC Systems technical guidance to TCC Control Room and Transmission Field Unit Engineers.
You have
  • Previous technical experience in a role involving electrical, mechanical or hydraulic systems and SCADA with knowledge and an understanding of the Transmission network.
  • The foresight to be able to technically design new displays for safe operation by Transmission Control Room.
  • The ability to be able to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. Project Managers, Project Engineers, National Grid and External Contractors).
  • A recognised Engineering qualification or working towards this.
  • Logical analysis and fault-finding skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
