Contract: Full-time, long-term (January 2026 – July 2026)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

Be the calm, consistent support that makes a real difference.

We’re working with a friendly, mainstream primary school in Battersea that’s looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young boy on a 1:1 basis.

He is non-verbal, has a diagnosis of ASD, and can present with challenging behaviour, so the school is looking for someone confident, patient, and unflappable. Someone who knows that progress doesn’t always look neat, and that the smallest wins matter most.

This is a full-time role from January 2026 through to July 2026, offering consistency for both you and the child you’ll be supporting.

What your day will look like:
  • Providing 1:1 support to help the pupil feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn
  • Supporting communication, routines, and emotional regulation throughout the school day
  • Using strategies to manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour calmly and confidently
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team
  • Being a steady, trusted presence in a busy classroom environment
This role is a great fit if you:
  • Have experience supporting children with ASD and challenging behaviour
  • Are confident working with non-verbal pupils
  • Stay calm under pressure and bring consistency to your practice
  • Understand that relationship-building comes before everything else
  • Want to make a genuine difference, every single day
Why work with Protocol Education?
  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella company faff
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who gets SEND
  • Long-term, meaningful roles in schools that value their support staff
