Job Summary

Would you like the opportunity to join us as a Band 5 Staff Nurse?

If so, then Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting talented, committed individuals who share our vision, values and professional ambition.

We currently have vacancies in the Pre-Operative Assessment Department, as below:

  • 37.5 hours, 8-6pm x 4 days per week at Kidderminster Treatment Centre
  • 30 hours 8-4pm x 4 days per week, at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.

Countywide working will also be required when necessary to cover leave.

We have a wide range of different clinics offering a good opportunity to learn and give variety to your working week. We are committed to providing flexibility and can offer shift patterns as above, Monday - Friday.

Main duties of the job

Our pre-op assessments are made through an online system called Synopsis. Our service provides assessment for a wide variety of surgical procedures across the County therefore you will be mentored and supported to learn the role. Ideally you will have pre-operative assessment experience, however a sound knowledge of both medicine and surgery would be keenly considered. It is an exciting time to join the service with many national changes happening and services being reconfigured to forge forward in meeting the healthcare needs of our local communities. The service offers a range of different clinics to maximise learning potential and opportunity to gain new skills such as triage, venepuncture and ECG interpretation. You will work closely with the Nursing and Anaesthetic team and be supported to achieve your pre-operative competencies.

About Us

Our purpose is simple - Putting Patients First. We are looking for exceptional colleagues who can help us achieve this.

We are committed to recruiting the best people to work with us to achieve our Vision - working in partnership to provide the best healthcare for our communities, leading and supporting our teams to move 4ward. Our 4ward behaviours, which we ask all staff to demonstrate, underpin our everyday work and remain firmly at the heart of all we do.

Our Objectives Are Simple:

  • Best services for local people
  • Best experience of care and best outcomes for our patients
  • Best use of resources
  • Best people

Better never stops, and our Clinical Services Strategy provides a clear future vision for our Trust, our hospitals, our services and our role in the wider health and care system.
