Job Title: Hard Maintenance Operative

Contract Type: Full Time

Hourly Rate: 22.50 - £25.00 per hour

Our client is responsible for maintaining safe, secure, and welcoming environments across our social housing. We’re looking for a reliable and proactive Hard Maintenance Operative to join their team. This role is hands-on and varied, working both independently and as part of a team to ensure our outdoor and structural facilities are kept in excellent condition.

As a Hard Maintenance Operative, you’ll take responsibility for a wide range of outdoor and structural maintenance tasks, from fence repairs and pathway upkeep to general grounds work. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our sites safe, functional, and presentable.

• Carry out fence repairs, gate adjustments, and boundary maintenance.
• Undertake general grounds maintenance including minor landscaping, pathway repairs, and site tidiness.
• Perform small-scale building fabric repairs (e.g., brickwork, paving, drainage).
• Support planned and reactive maintenance tasks as required.
• Operate tools, machinery, and equipment safely and effectively.
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety requirements.
• Report any hazards, defects, or required works promptly to management.

We’re looking for someone practical, hardworking, and able to turn their hand to a variety of maintenance jobs. You’ll have good problem solving skills, take pride in your work, and enjoy working outdoors in all seasons.

• Previous experience in grounds, maintenance, or a similar trade-based role.
• Ability to use hand tools and small machinery confidently and safely.
• Basic knowledge of fencing, grounds upkeep, and general building fabric repairs.
• Strong awareness of health & safety practices.
• A full UK driving licence
