A prominent medical institution in Leeds is seeking a Post CCT Fellow in Paediatric Gastroenterology. This role involves managing inpatient care, leading ward rounds, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. Applicants must possess MBBCh and MRCPCH or equivalent qualifications, along with significant experience in Paediatrics. The position offers opportunities for further training in endoscopy and involvement in various research projects, contributing to the health of patients across North and West Yorkshire.
Thispost is aimed at post CCT Paediatricians who wish to improve their skills inpaediatric gastroenterology. Theapplicant should have MBBCh and MRCPCH or equivalent and have completed atleast 6 months in a recognised training post in paediatric gastroenterology.
Thesuccessful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team involved in running aregional Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition service and provide tertiarycare to North and West Yorkshire.
Thepost holder will be involved in the day-to-day management of inpatientsincluding leading ward rounds and see patients in outpatient clinics and as daycases. They will have responsibilitiesfor organising the weekly multidisciplinary meetings and ensuring that thediscussions are documented. They willhave a coordinating role among the junior doctor team. There will be opportunities to further theirtraining in practical procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy. The weeklyward timetable includes close supervision by consultants and severalopportunities for clinical teaching. Thepost-holder would be expected to participate in medical audit and researchprojects.
Thedepartment provides expertise in the management of Inflammatory Bowel disease(IBD) (looking after more than 350 patients), intestinal failure (IF) (beingone of the first established IF centres in the country, looking after 24 homePN patients), enteral tube fed patients (around 2000 patients), chronicconstipation and dysmotility, functional GI disorders, eosinophilic GIdisorders and GI problems in children with neurodisability. We provide onsiteGI consultant assessments for a broad range of paediatric subspecialties(Hepatology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Neonatology, Paediatric Surgery, Oncology,PICU etc.).
Theward has 16 beds shared between Gastroenterology and general paediatrics. There are subspecialty clinics ininflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, coeliac disease, dysmotility,general gastroenterology and transition clinics for IBD and IF.

There are subspecialty clinics ininflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, coeliac disease, dysmotility,general gastroenterology and transition clinics for IBD and IF. There are weekly IBD, IF, gastro-surgical andradiology MDTs and fortnightly a histology MDT. Weekly teaching sessions fromall the members of the MDT including dieticians, CNS, pharmacist andconsultants are offered.
Thesuccessful applicant will have access to endoscopy training with thepossibility to obtain the Jag Jets certificate for upper GI endoscopy andcolonoscopy.
Thereare opportunities to engage in local and multicentre research projects andaudits.
Theteam is supported by 5 experienced Nutrition nurses (3 for Home PN and 2 forenteral), 3 experienced IBD CNS, 2 MDT Co-ordinators (one for IBD and one forNutrition), 3 experienced dietitians, one consultant PN pharmacist and one Band7 pharmacist, 2 Gastroenterology Psychologists, 1 Gastroenterology SocialWorker and 3 bowel nurse specialists.
