A dedicated education agency is seeking a Special Needs Specialist to support Year 8 students with special educational needs in a secondary school. The role involves providing tailored one-to-one support, adapting lesson materials, and collaborating with teachers. Ideal candidates will have experience with SEN, strong communication skills, and relevant qualifications. This temporary position offers the chance to positively impact students' learning and wellbeing.
We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Specialist to work specifically with a Year 8 student cohort that begins as soon as possible in a welcoming secondary school. This temporary role offers the chance to make a direct impact on young people’s learning, confidence and wellbeing.
Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for Year 8 pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN).
Collaborate with classroom teachers, the SENCo and external professionals to plan and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
Adapt lesson materials and learning strategies to meet diverse needs and ensure full curriculum access.
Foster social and emotional development, promoting independence and positive behaviour.
Monitor and record progress, sharing updates with staff and parents/carers.
Proven experience supporting students with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH) in a secondary school or similar setting.
Strong understanding of inclusive practices and current SEN approaches.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills as Special Needs Specialist.
Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, SEN specialism or equivalent practical experience.
