Personalised Care Support Officer
Job summary
A regional NHS foundation trust seeks a Personalised Care Support Officer to provide essential administrative support within Cancer Services. The role involves coordinating cancer education and information services, supporting various teams, and maintaining effective communication with healthcare staff and patients. Qualifications include GCSEs in English and Mathematics and NVQ Level 3. Ideal candidates will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with NHS operations, ensuring positive patient experiences and efficient service delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven administrative/secretarial experience in a similar role.
- Ability to prioritise and organise own workload effectively.
- Experience in the NHS and knowledge of cancer pathways.
Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate cancer information, education, and personalized care teams.
- Maintain and update intranet site and produce newsletters.
- Organise educational events and collect patient feedback.
- Provide support to visitors of Macmillan Information and Support Centres.

Band 3 role within Cancer Services. Provide administrative support across County Durham and Darlington, supporting cancer information, education and personalised care teams.
- Support Macmillan Personalised Care, Cancer Education and Macmillan Information and Support teams with data audit, reporting, minute taking and cancer awareness activities.
- Maintain intranet site, coordinate and produce a regular newsletter.
- Plan, organise education and other events and gather patient experience feedback.
- Provide information and support to people visiting the Macmillan Information and Support Centres.
- Underpin the development of personalised care in cancer through provision of administrative support.
- Ability to take accurate notes and summarise actions at meetings.
- Work effectively with low supervision and as part of several teams.
- Confidentiality awareness and ability to identify problems and solve with the team.
- Communicate with a wide range of health care staff and patients.
- Follow policy and procedure guidance and identify where change may be required.
- Knowledge of legislation regarding patient and staff data and confidentiality.
- Awareness of the Cancer agenda and ability to contribute to improvement of patient pathways.
- GCSE English and Mathematics grades A-C or equivalent.
- NVQ 3 or equivalent experience.
- Administrative/secretarial experience and customer/care experience.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft packages.
- Experience working in the NHS and awareness of cancer pathways and treatments.
- Ability to input data for significant periods of time using a VDU and concentrate on tasks with interruptions.
- Travel across trust sites as required.
- Positive attitude, flexible and adaptable.
