Job summary

Job Overview

Band 3 role within Cancer Services. Provide administrative support across County Durham and Darlington, supporting cancer information, education and personalised care teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Macmillan Personalised Care, Cancer Education and Macmillan Information and Support teams with data audit, reporting, minute taking and cancer awareness activities.
  • Maintain intranet site, coordinate and produce a regular newsletter.
  • Plan, organise education and other events and gather patient experience feedback.
  • Provide information and support to people visiting the Macmillan Information and Support Centres.
  • Underpin the development of personalised care in cancer through provision of administrative support.
Person Specification – Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to take accurate notes and summarise actions at meetings.
  • Work effectively with low supervision and as part of several teams.
  • Confidentiality awareness and ability to identify problems and solve with the team.
  • Communicate with a wide range of health care staff and patients.
  • Follow policy and procedure guidance and identify where change may be required.
  • Knowledge of legislation regarding patient and staff data and confidentiality.
  • Awareness of the Cancer agenda and ability to contribute to improvement of patient pathways.
Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Mathematics grades A-C or equivalent.
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Administrative/secretarial experience and customer/care experience.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft packages.
  • Experience working in the NHS and awareness of cancer pathways and treatments.
Special Conditions
  • Ability to input data for significant periods of time using a VDU and concentrate on tasks with interruptions.
  • Travel across trust sites as required.
  • Positive attitude, flexible and adaptable.
