Job summary
A machinery design company is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their Basingstoke team. This permanent role involves collaborating with design engineers on projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have a BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering and experience with 3D CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as well as a willingness to grow within the company. Salary ranges from GBP 25,000 to GBP 30,000, dependent on experience.

JOB: Graduate Mechanical Engineer
LOCATION: Basingstoke
TERM: Permanent
SALARY: GBP 25,000 : GBP 30,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client designs and manufactures bespoke machinery. They are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Basingstoke on a permanent basis.
- Degree BSc / BEng qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 0-2 years or more industry experience
- Strong hands‑on skills with testing and development
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software: ideally SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD etc.
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience working with machinery and automated systems would be beneficial
- Be able to work well individually as well as part of a team
- Have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Be keen to develop with a company long term
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Seeing through projects from concept through to completion
- Working in the R and D team on testing and development
- Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Creating component and assembly models to satisfy customer requirements
- Liaising with manufacturing providersProducing the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
