With approximately 15,000 talented women and men, we are a global and leading engineering and technology company, with a clear vision to accelerate the energy transition. Designing and delivering added value energy solutions is what we do.

Genesis Energies is a global business unit of Technip Energies, providing impartial, high-value advisory services for the energy industry. We have an unrivalled track record of bringing high-impact solutions to clients. As trusted advisors committed to a sustainable future, we have extensive experience working in true partnership with our clients while providing innovative, robust and sustainable solutions. This is what differentiates Genesis in today's market.

From Engineers and Specialists to Project Managers and Support Staff, spread across 15 countries, our people thrive in a dynamic, proactive business that's balanced with a deep sense of environmental responsibility.

If you share our determination to drive the transition to a low-carbon future, then this could be the job for you. We offer you not only a job, but an inspiring journey in a truly global environment where you team up to break down boundaries thanks to the collaboration, creativity and pioneer spirit which drive our people.

What we are looking for

The Genesis environmental advisory team is rapidly growing across the energy sector. The successful candidate will support a range of energy projects with a particular emphasis on environmental impact assessment in the marine environment (including oil and gas developments, decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, and renewable energy).

We are seeking a candidate with demonstrable experience related to the offshore energy industry and that has the drive to support our continued growth in this sector.

Due to a busy and diverse project portfolio, we are looking for professionals with a deep understanding of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process and a keen interest in how to bring this to the assessment of offshore projects and operations in the context of environmental protection. You will provide leadership to study teams with a focus on EIA in the marine environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry. You will also interface with the wider Genesis organisation through interactions with other discipline teams to provide environmental technical inputs on a variety of projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading and executing comprehensive environmental studies related to offshore energy developments and decommissioning projects from early stage screening and risk assessment through to full scale Environmental Impact Assessment and to supporting consenting;
  • Preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the quality of deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and regional permitting standards.
  • Engaging with regulatory authorities, maritime agencies, and environmental NGOs, to facilitate project approvals and address environmental concerns.
  • Supporting project teams in integrating environmental considerations into offshore design, construction, and operation phases.
  • Project management of deliverables identified above including acting as client focal point;
  • Writing tenders in response to requests for proposals and supporting the continued growth of our offshore energy capabilities;
  • Staying informed on evolving offshore environmental regulations, industry best practices, and emerging environmental issues; and
  • Mentoring responsibilities for junior staff on a project level.
Our team supports a wide range of environmental studies and assessments, presenting a range of development paths for individuals to expand their skills and knowledge. The team carries a wide portfolio of projects requiring a diverse range of skills and we encourage all team members to diversify their competencies and gain experience beyond their core role.

Required Skills:

The successful applicant must:
  • Have a degree in a relevant science or environmental subject ideally including a marine aspect;
  • Hold experience in a similar role including EIA specific experience;
  • Have experience of writing EIAs for energy related projects;
  • Have project management experience on small to medium projects;
  • Have knowledge of offshore energy development within the UK and the associated environmental legislation;
  • Have excellent written skills with attention to detail and an ability to accurately inform the reader about complex projects;
  • Be a strong team player; and
  • Be self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
Preferred Attributes:

The successful applicant may:
  • Have experience in proposal writing;
  • Have familiarity with GIS and environmental modelling tools;
  • Have experience with stakeholder engagement specifically public consultations;
  • Have professional certifications such as IEMA, IECA, or equivalent; and
  • Have specific experience and/or knowledge of renewable offshore energy technologies such as offshore wind.
It is essential that applicants must have the right to work in the UK
