Job summary

A multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking Geotechnical students for a Summer Placement in Birmingham, Newcastle, or London for 2026. The role involves contributing to research and reporting on ground investigations, and assisting with geotechnical calculations within various sectors including Education, Healthcare, and Energy. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in Earth Sciences or Civil Engineering and have a passion for sustainability. This role presents a unique opportunity to work on impactful construction projects while gaining valuable experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be working towards a degree in Earth Sciences or Civil Engineering.
  • Preferably in the second or third year of study or completing an undergraduate degree.
  • Have a passion for improving the built environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to desk-based research and reporting of ground investigations.
  • Assist with geotechnical calculations and analysis.
  • Development of ground models and material parameters.

The Role You'll Play

We are recruiting talented and creative Geotechnical students to join our team in Newcastle, London or Birmingham for a Summer Placement in 2026 to work on some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and worldwide.

Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you will be involved with projects across all sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems, Industrial, Residential, Highways, Energy and Retail.

As part of your Summer Placement, you will contribute to desk based research, the design, management and reporting of ground investigations and development of ground models and material parameters. You will also assist with geotechnical calculations and analysis, contaminated land risk assessments and the development of remedial strategies.

The Skills You'll Bring

Individuals who are interested in the Summer Placement opportunities will need to be:

  • On track to achieve a 2:1 or above
  • Working towards a degree in Earth Sciences or Civil Engineering, or similar
  • Preferably be in your second or third year of study or between completing an undergraduate degree and about to commence an Masters
  • Have a passion for improving the built environment
  • Be interested in design and sustainable design principles
