The Principal Planner (Gr J)* is a pivotal role in shaping the future development and land use strategies of our community. • Lead the preparation and presentation of comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and land use regulations.
• Conduct detailed analyses of planning issues and trends to inform strategic decision-making.
• Manage multiple planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.
• Facilitate community engagement initiatives to gather public input and support for planning initiatives.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including developers, government agencies, and community organizations, to encourage collaboration on planning projects.
• Review and assess development applications, ensuring compliance with regulations and community goals.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior planners and staff, fostering professional development and teamwork.

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in urban or regional planning.
• Strong knowledge of zoning laws, land use planning, and environmental regulations.
• Proficiency in GIS software and other planning tools and technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
