Job Description

My client in the Leicester area is currently looking for a Senior Civil Engineer due to expansion.

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic design team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering projects across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and retirement/care schemes. The role will involve close collaboration with developers, architects, and local authorities, with a focus on drainage, highways, and external works.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work within a Civil Engineering design team, focusing on drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.
2. Manage design resources for Drainage Systems in accordance with standards such as Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations, and the SuDS Manual.
3. Lead and manage the design of on-site and off-site highways, adhering to industry standards (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets).
4. Prepare proposals and manage project budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
5. Oversee junior team members, reviewing their designs, reports, and drawings.
6. Attend client meetings and site visits, ensuring clear communication and the successful implementation of projects.
7. Provide mentoring and support to junior staff members, contributing to their professional development.
8. Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) through accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks.

Skills & Experience Required:

1. Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards it, with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
2. Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
3. Minimum of 5 years’ consultancy experience in civil engineering, working with local authorities, developers, and architects.
4. Proven experience in managing civil engineering projects, including drainage, external works, and highways elements.
5. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Site 3D, or equivalent 3D software; knowledge of other engineering software is advantageous.
6. Strong project management skills, with experience handling projects through the planning process (pre-app to condition discharge).
7. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and commercial frameworks.
8. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
