Job summary

A growing Civil Engineering Consultancy in London is looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to lead a team and drive project delivery. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with two days in the office and three days from home. Ideal candidates will possess experience in highway and drainage design, have strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff. The firm is poised for growth, providing a pathway to quick advancement to Associate level.

Qualifications

  • Experience in detailed design of highway and drainage for development projects.
  • Ability to achieve technical approval and adopt highway works.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, WINDES, MicroDrainage and Civils 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery for Civil Engineering team.
  • Mentor and oversee Graduate Civil Engineers & Technicians.
  • Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.

Principal Civil Engineer

Location: London Bridge

Salary: 50k - 60k dependent on level of experience

Hybrid working arrangement: 2 days in the London office and up to 3 days from home

Emtech are working with a busy and growing Civil Engineering Consultancy who are looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to join their team in London. The Civil Engineering team in London is 10 people and this role offers real opportunity for career growth and having an impact in a team that needs another experienced Engineer to lead on project delivery.

The scope for this team is to grow to 15 people in the next 12 months which offers scope for the successful individual to move up to Associate level quickly.

Key Skills
  • Experience in detailed design of highway and drainage for development projects
  • Achieving technical approval of highway works via S278 and adoption via S38
  • Achieving S104 and S106 drainage network approval and adoption
  • Thorough knowledge and use of AutoCAD, WINDES, MicroDrainage and Civils 3D
  • Ability to liaise with clients, contractors, other designers, and relevant authorities
  • Good communicator and an ability to solve complex problems with a high degree of technical independence
  • Able to mentor and oversee Graduate Civil Engineers & Technicians
  • Able to prepare Flood Risk Assessments and or Drainage Strategies
  • Experience in use of Site 3D and Causeway Flow Software
  • Knowledge of signs and road marking software (Key Signs, Key Lines or equivalent)
  • Working towards Chartership or Chartered with ICE or CIWEM
