Senior Manager - Strategic Finance
Job summary
A leading recruitment agency in the UK is looking for a Senior Manager - Strategic Finance for a contract role in Reading. This position involves working closely with stakeholders to deliver financial reporting and accounting outputs. The ideal candidate has extensive IFRS knowledge, particularly with IFRS 9, 15, and 16, combined with exceptional stakeholder management and project management skills. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days in the office, and offers the chance to significantly influence strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant with experience in large or listed organizations.
- Deep IFRS knowledge, especially IFRS 9, 15, and 16.
- Experience in fast-paced environments, preferably in Telco.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical accounting papers for complex transactions.
- Deliver accurate financial information for strategic reports.

Senior Manager - Strategic Finance
Contract role
Reading | Hybrid (2 / 3 days in office)
In this role, you'll partner with stakeholders across the business and external advisors to deliver high-quality financial reporting and technical accounting outputs. You'll play a key role in shaping reporting for complex strategic initiatives-so strong communication, influencing, and project management skills are essential.
- Preparing and supporting the creation of detailed technical accounting papers for complex and material transactions under IFRS
- Delivering accurate, timely financial information to support strategic project reporting
- Leading and coordinating multiple workstreams across the CFO function and external advisors
- Challenging external advisors to drive efficiency and high-quality outputs
- Supporting automation, process improvement, and reporting enhancement initiatives
- Ensuring all reporting meets audit requirements and stands up to scrutiny from internal and external stakeholders
- Qualified Accountant with experience in large or listed organisations
- Deep IFRS knowledge - especially IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 (UK GAAP a bonus)
- Experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments (Telco experience a plus)
- Strong understanding of reporting automation and process improvement
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Proven experience leading or contributing to complex project work and delivering credible results
- Excellent financial reporting, technical accounting, audit coordination, and financial modelling capabilities
- Confidence working independently and guiding others
- Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- A proactive mindset and a drive for continuous improvement
