The North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has opportunities for Anaesthetic and Recovery Nurses/ODP with full time and part time vacancies. The role is in an Agenda For Change Band 5 in the Anaesthetic and Recovery specialty. • Apply specialist knowledge underpinned by theory to practice in an acute critical care area across a range of diverse procedures.
• Ensure a physical and psychological environment conducive to optimum perioperative patient care.
• Provide care to a designed caseload of patients within an acute critical area; analyse, assess and make clinical judgments; support junior staff during this process.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, colleagues, and external agencies; demonstrate empathy and reassurance.
• Adhere to policies and procedures; propose changes to working practices for the own work area.
• Following competency completion, frequently take charge of a designated area in theatre and may oversee the Operating Department in the absence of the Theatre Sister.
• Ensure safe use and knowledge management of expensive/highly complex equipment and pharmaceutical products in the acute critical care area.
• Comply with legal requirements and statutory rules relating to the NMC or the Association of Operating Department Practitioners.
• Assist in establishing systems to evaluate standards of practice (e.g., Essence of Care and Nursing Strategy); maintain accurate perioperative documentation.
• Participate in research and audits and apply findings to clinical practice; take part in initiating new ideas and evidence-based practice.
• Mentor and facilitate education of staff nurses, operating department practitioners, student nurses, trainee ODPs, and theatre support workers.
• Demonstrate commitment to flexible working patterns and inclusive values; promote equality and diversity; reduce sickness absence and promote staff well-being.
• Take responsibility for personal development and create a Personal Development Plan.
• Infection prevention and control: comply with policies, complete annual training, and maintain patient safety through appropriate protective interventions.
• Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary care team and ensure positive working relationships within the operating department and with external agencies.
• Deliver and maintain a high-quality service to patients and carers in the acute Perioperative area; maintain effective team relations.

• Enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individuals; previous experience desirable but not essential as full training is provided.
• Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies (hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene) and undertake annual updates.
• Be able to work in a busy environment and adapt to evolving service needs.
• Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check: Enhanced level clearance required due to access to children or vulnerable adults.
• Be aware of and comply with legal and professional standards (NMC or AoDP as applicable).
