The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Portfolio Underwriter to join our Technical and Business Performance team in London.

This is a great opportunity to play a role in developing our Commercial Motor Portfolio. This UK book covers a broad range of segments, underwriting business for corporate and global clients across a range of program structures. The role will be responsible for executing a strategic underwriting plan which delivers marketing leading growth and profitable results to the division.

Your Role

  • Deliver compliant underwriting decisions aligned with business objectives.
  • Support and help execute the annual portfolio plan.
  • Share insights and best practices in team discussions.
  • Promote the team and company positively to strengthen our brand.
  • Follow underwriting standards to manage risk and drive efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate risk recording, including delegated authorities.
  • Apply reinsurance strategies to support portfolio goals.
  • Provide technical expertise to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, brokers, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to portfolio reviews and peer processes to support continuous improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience in the motor insurance market, ideally with a focus on commercial clients.
  • Strong knowledge of policy wordings, regulatory requirements, and market trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and influence effectively.
  • A data-driven mindset with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
