Electrical Design Engineer – West Midlands / North Birmingham – Automation/Machinery – £50-55k + 25 days holidays

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established and growing company based in the West Midlands. The successful candidate will need to understand and be able to design basic pneumatic circuits.

Key responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer include:

• Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams using CAD software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or other widely used electrical design tools.
• Design electrical and pneumatic systems for bespoke machinery and special-purpose equipment.
• Opportunities to grow the team and develop into management roles.
• Select appropriate components and materials for electrical and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, and cable sizes.
• Ideally possess a background in automation and special-purpose machinery design.
• Work with a friendly, sociable, and supportive team.
• Engage in projects across various industries, ensuring no two projects are the same.
• On-site experience is required; the role is mainly office-based but involves supervising installation and commissioning on customer sites across the UK, usually for one-day visits.
• Potential to develop PLC software skills in the future to add further value.

Benefits include 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. Working hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, and 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on Fridays.

The office is accessible from most of the West Midlands, including Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield, Penkridge, and West Bromwich.
