Trainer Assessor - Youth, Community and Wellbeing - Manchester

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Apprenticeship Assessor to support learners who are committed to improving the lives of others in their communities. Apprentices work across a variety of roles and levels in areas such as community support, public services, and wellbeing. You will help them develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to make a positive impact, and contribute to the delivery of courses focused on developing strategies that promote positive outcomes for individuals and communities.
As an Assessor, you’ll deliver high-quality, inclusive and engaging learning experiences, inspiring apprentices to apply their learning in meaningful ways and building competence and confidence as they progress in their chosen field. You will ensure every learner benefits from a stimulating, supportive and values-driven journey that enables them to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners, providing high-quality training, coaching, mentoring and assessment to achieve their apprenticeship standard and/or related qualifications in a timely manner.
- Use learners’ starting points to plan and sequence training across knowledge, skills, behaviours, and English and maths development.
- Develop and agree individual training plans with employers to support learners toward final assessment/end-point assessment.
- Provide a comprehensive induction programme for learners and employers, clarifying roles and responsibilities in the collaborative relationship.
- Develop and implement effective training strategies and activities, including resources to support learners’ progress.
- Ensure training meets standards set by Acorn Training and Awarding Organisations (AO) and comply with quality assurance processes; present learners’ work for QA as required.
- Plan and track off-the-job training as part of the learner’s plan and monitor progress.
- Support and develop learners’ English, maths and digital skills.
- Ensure learners have access to pastoral support and understand Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity, and Fundamental British Values.
- Organise assessment opportunities and regular review meetings with learners and employers; provide constructive feedback to aid progress.
- Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers throughout the programme, including wellbeing support.
- Set and monitor objectives and deadlines; manage timescales and assess outcomes and achievements.
- Carry out employer health and safety risk assessments when necessary.
- Maintain an electronic diary of sessions and visits; plan visits in advance and adhere to lone working policies.
- Maintain accurate records in electronic systems and document interactions in a timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum Level 3/4/5 qualification in a community/care/social work-related field as appropriate to the qualification and level being delivered.
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent.
- GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel.
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 4 IQA qualification
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) or equivalent
- IOSH Health and Safety at Work qualification
- First Aid at Work qualification
Experience
Essential
- Current involvement and experience in a related vocational area relevant to the qualifications being delivered.
- Demonstrated ability to meet targets for timely achievement.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience supporting learners to achieve successful outcomes in a work-based environment.
- Experience with a diverse caseload of learners (Apprentices, Adult Learners, Commercial Learners).
Knowledge
Essential
- Up-to-date knowledge of regulations and practices within community-based settings relevant to the qualifications being delivered.
- Understanding of Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Counterterrorism legislation as it applies to teaching, learning and assessment.
- Competent in using ICT to support teaching, learning, assessment and communication.
Desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted expectations and best practices in the field.
