A leading NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a LCS Nursing Manager to oversee the lung cancer screening program. You will guide a dedicated nursing team, ensuring compliance with clinical governance while working closely with various departmental partners. This role involves complex clinical decision-making and the provision of education and training for staff. You will promote high standards of patient management and contribute to enhancing patient outcomes. Candidates should have relevant nursing qualifications and strong leadership skills.
The Lung Cancer Screening Programme is designed to enable early detection of lung cancer, improving patient outcomes and saving lives. With approval from the National Screening Committee, the programme is set to be implemented nationwide by 2028/29.
The programme targets individuals aged 55–74 with a history of smoking who are registered with participating GP practices. Patients are assessed for lung cancer risk through telephone screening using an accredited risk assessment tool. Advanced systems are employed to identify high-risk individuals, who are then scheduled for low-dose CT scans, enabling early detection and better treatment options.
The LCS Nursing Manager & Responsible Assessor will work alongside and support our experienced LCSNM to oversee the effective management of the LCS nursing team and screening review meetings (SRM). You will have direct line management responsibility for our LCS nursing team.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates. If you are successful after interview you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
