Job Description:
The work includes large account pricing, pricing reviews, working with Underwriters and P&M operations team to develop and maintain pricing models, provide analyses and management information reports to internal and external Stakeholders, price outwards reinsurance for the portfolio, and business planning.
This role would suit a commercially minded Senior Pricing Actuary who would like to take the next step in their career and broaden their knowledge. It provides the opportunity to work within a diverse, and growing pricing team who oversee a global book of Property, Construction and Specialty business.
- Manage the Property, Construction & Specialty P&M team: including organization, resource allocation, development of team members and interactions across disciplines and with other areas in SCOR and the SCOR Syndicate, in particular in cooperation with other pricing actuaries and the regional CUO / Market managers.
- Support the development and enhancement of SBS pricing tools
- Participate in model design, development, evaluation, sensitivity testing and calibration studies.
- Ensure pricing models are appropriately calibrated and used correctly by underwriters, including rate change calculation.
- Participate in the onboarding of the various lobs and pricing models on the Underwriting Platform
- Participate in the convergence of the Property Pricing models for Single Risks of SBS and Syndicate
- Maintain pricing tools including technical documentation, specifications, and parameter updates.
- Portfolio Analysis, business planning and recalibration
- Assist in studies to improve pricing methodology and the predictiveness of pricing analyses.
- Create portfolio monitoring tools to aid the monitoring of pricing adequacy by segments.
- Contribute to and manage the annual business planning review of the portfolio (deep-dive) by considering combined ratios, rate levels, inflationary effects, and class of business mix for Specialty Insurance (including SCOR Syndicate).
- Price outwards reinsurance for the portfolio to assist placement by the retro team.
- Reporting and Projects
- Lead or represent SBS Pricing in various projects as required.
- Contribute to regulatory tasks such as the Lloyd’s Performance Management Data Return (PMDR) and board reports.
- Monitor and provide feedback on Underwriter Adjustments and pricing strength against profitability targets.
- Handle any other ad-hoc reporting requirements.
- Evaluate profitability, exposure, and loss data; provide technical pricing indications for key accounts.
- Improve experience rating methodology using submission data to establish benchmarks.
- Ensure all accounts priced adhere to the SBS Pricing Guidelines review process.
Experience
- Extensive pricing experience in P&C large corporate insurance and London Market, with significant exposure to Property, Energy, and Specialty lines of business.
- Solid understanding of basic ratemaking concepts such as exposure adjustments, trend, loss development, exposure rating, and experience rating.
- Experience managing a diverse team across various locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle large, complex datasets.
- Significant experience using Python, R, or similar programming languages; Python is an advantage, especially for pricing transformation projects within SCOR.
- Experience with HX Renew is an advantage but not required.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- Self-starting, highly motivated, and a good team player.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task.
- Proactive support for the team as a center of excellence for Pricing within the Specialty Insurance division.

Required Education and Qualification
- Fellow of the IFoA (or recognized actuarial organization).
- Degree in a quantitative discipline or related field, or equivalent.
