Interim Management Accountant
Job summary
A recruitment agency based in the UK is seeking an experienced Interim Management Accountant to support a growing organization in Preston. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll management skills and a background in management accounting. Responsibilities include producing monthly management accounts and overseeing the payroll process. This role is initially for 3-6 months, with a day rate equivalent to £55,000.

- Experience managing or supporting small teams is desirable.

Location: Preston (4 days on site preferred, minimum 2-3 days)
Day Rate/Salary: Equivalent to £55,000

An opportunity has arisen for a Interim Management Accountant to support a growing organisation during a period of transition. Working closely with both the People and Finance teams, this role will suit someone who is hands‑on, detail‑focused, and confident managing end‑to‑end accounting and payroll processes.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and associated reporting
- Oversee the complete payroll process (this is essential for the role)
- Manage the full payment cycle, including reconciliations and supplier management
- Quickly get to grips with current systems, identifying areas for improvement
- Provide oversight and day‑to‑day support to two team members
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, low‑ego working environment
- ACCA/CIMA
- Strong experience in payroll management
- Proven background in management accounting within a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable operating in a hands‑on capacity
- Experience managing or supporting small teams is desirable
- Ability to build relationships across finance and people functions
