Qualifications

Overview

Technical Manager - Chemicals. Job Type Full-time - On-site. Location: Cambridgeshire. A leading fine chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee Production and Development operations. The Technical Manager role is a key leadership role focused on safety, quality, team performance, and operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day Production and Development operations.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, high-quality manufacturing.
  • Train, support, and develop team members.
  • Review production and QC data; track KPIs and drive performance.
  • Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot issues across Production, Development, QC, and other site functions.
  • Coordinate maintenance, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
  • Deputise for the Site Director as and when required.
Requirements
  • Degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant industrial experience.
  • Leadership experience within chemical/pharma manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of ISO standards.
  • Competent with Office 365 and basic IT systems.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or similar is beneficial.
Desirable
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF).
  • Project management and data analysis capabilities.
Additional Information
  • On-site role
  • Exposure to plant and lab environments; PPE sometimes required.
  • Must have full Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
