It’s an exciting time to join UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation.

We are now seeking an experienced Technical Communications Manager to join our small, busy team of skilled communications professionals who have experience across different communication disciplines, including internal and external communication, digital, social media, design, press, crisis management and events. In particular, we are looking for experience in supporting complex programmes with communications. This includes strong stakeholder management, excellent attention to detail and delivering communications with the user in mind.

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Work as a Communications business partner and engage colleagues at all levels to develop, plan and implement communications activities and projects in line with the company vision and mission and the programme
  • Lead on the development of an insight driven communications plan for the business area/programme
  • Partner and delivery of a range of communications and engagement materials using a multi-channel approach for a B2B organisation
  • Help develop and deliver a continuous and proactive programme of communications opportunities
  • Research, write and publish story-centred and multi-channel content that creates understanding and engagement with business areas to raise awareness and understanding of UKSBS’s business as usual activities and major change programmes
  • Develop, plan, deliver and follow up regular engagement opportunities for different audiences i.e., Town halls, leadership meetings, briefings, achievements
  • Provide business partnering/engagement and communications advice to the Head of Communications and our senior leadership team
  • Maximise opportunities to build the UKSBS brand at internal and external events

To do this role well, you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of having previously worked in a strategic communication and/or engagement role delivering impactful communications in line with strategic goals
  • Substantial experience of communication and engagement with stakeholders of all levels
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering strategic communication plans and tactics which achieve organisational objectives
  • Ability to work flexibility, with an understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences internally and externally
  • Track record of building effective stakeholder or collaborative relationships with a range of partners and delivering results through those partnerships
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and apply strategic thinking, including in times of change
  • Experience of planning and delivering effective programmes, project and business change communications
  • Be able to work flexibly at pace, managing several competing deadlines and rapidly changing priorities at short notice and to very short timescales
