Overview
HYBRID ROLE – Senior Planner, JM 190925. £336.70 per day PAYE including holiday pay and pension contributions. 37 Hours per week. Contract Length: 14 months. Location: Reading, Berkshire – 3 days per week onsite max. Some travel to Swindon may be required. SC CLEARANCE REQUIRED MUST BE LIVE AND ACTIVE.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), resource loading, project-level Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), and project-specific basis of scheduling documents.
- Contribute to the month-end process, including:
- Updating schedule progress (EV percentage complete)
- Undertaking schedule forecasting
- Updating milestone status and critical path analysis
- Conducting schedule performance reviews, including EV variance analysis (SPI)
- Provide planning input into investment approvals, change control, risk and opportunity management, and peer reviews.
- Produce planning and Earned Value (EV) deliverables in line with relevant procedures and guidelines.
- Propose solutions and workarounds to address schedule performance issues.
- Uphold environmental, health, safety, security, quality, and ethics standards in all planning activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years’ planning experience.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6.
- Strong adaptability and stakeholder management skills at all levels.
- Hands-on experience in delivering projects using:
- Network logic
- Float paths
- WBS/CBS creation
- Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Resource levelling
- Monthly update cycles
- Change control
- What-If analysis
- Fragnets
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to make sound judgement calls on planning matters.
- Experience working to a business rhythm and delivering monthly planner requirements.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry (nuclear, oil & gas, construction) is highly desirable.
- Strong prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage varied and changing workloads.
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel.
