Job summary

Bedford Hospital has a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Orthopaedics and Surgery Team, working as a Senior Physiotherapist. The successful candidate will be working within the fast-paced and dynamic orthopaedic and surgical wards.

The post holder will need to be enthusiastic, energetic and motivated to continually provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills. They will also need to be passionate about all things orthopaedics and Surgery and keen to facilitate teaching to junior staff to develop their knowledge and skills.

A senior physiotherapy post is designed to allow physiotherapists who have consolidated and developed their graduate skills as a physiotherapist to further develop their clinical, professional and leadership skills.

The post holder will work within the orthopaedics and surgery physiotherapy team, and have the ability and passion to deliver advanced physiotherapy assessment and management to a caseload of orthopaedic and surgical patients, with a particular interest within the Elective and Trauma orthopaedic sub-speciality.

The post holder should have an interest in developing their professional and leadership skills, and have the ability to deputise for their team lead and support with service improvement projects/initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Undertake the physiotherapy assessment and management of patients within the Orthopaedic and Surgical physiotherapy speciality.
  • Determine clinical diagnosis or need and the physiotherapy intervention indicated.
  • Hold responsibility for their own varied caseload, as an autonomous practitioner and oversee caseloads of more junior staff.
  • Assess, plan, treat and evaluate patient centred interventions.
  • To work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy services to patients within the specialities of the work place.
  • To supervise, educate and assess the performance of undergraduate physiotherapy students as required.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care.
Person Specification

Qualifications: Physio Degree or Equivalent, HCPC Registration

Experience: Previous NHS experience in a rotational capacity in core specialities or similar position, Previous NHS experience within orthopaedic and surgical speciality

Knowledge: Able to present information, written and orally in a clear logical manner, Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
