An excellent opportunity for a qualified first aider to support student wellbeing in a secondary school environment, providing first aid, medical support and essential administrative assistance as part of a dedicated education team.

SALARY: £25,186 FTE, Actual Annual Salary £21,601 (39 weeks term time only)

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent (term time only)

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.15am-4.15pm and Friday 8.15am-3.45pm, Term Time only (39 weeks per year)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School First Aider / Administration Assistant to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school during an exciting period of growth.

As a School First Aider / Administration Assistant you will be the first point of contact for students, staff and parents regarding first aid and medical matters, playing a vital role in safeguarding, student welfare and daily school operations.

This position is ideal for someone who is confident, empathetic and well organised, with the ability to prioritise in a busy education environment while delivering high standards of care and administrative support.

DUTIES
  • Providing First Aid Support: Delivering first aid care to students and staff in line with policies and procedures
  • Medical Administration: Managing student medical records, care plans and medication documentation
  • Student Welfare Support: Supporting the physical wellbeing of students with professionalism and empathy
  • Parental Liaison: Acting as a key point of contact for parents regarding medical and first aid matters
  • Safeguarding Awareness: Following safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate logs of incidents, treatments and medical information
  • Emergency Response: Responding calmly and effectively to medical incidents and emergencies
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student needs
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
  • A recognised First Aid qualification or first aid experience with willingness to obtain a HSE 3 Day First Aid at Work certificate
  • Previous experience in a first aid, medical, welfare or support-based role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with students, staff and parents
  • A calm, empathetic and professional approach
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
DESIRABLE
  • Experience working within a school or education environment
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and student welfare procedures
  • Experience of medical administration or record keeping
