Position: Professor in Electrical Engineering

The Department of Engineering at Durham University is seeking to appoint a Professor in Electrical Engineering. We welcome applications from individuals with research and teaching interests in experimental power electronics, machines, and drives. Candidates with a focus on renewable energy, space, aerospace, power distribution, and the reliability of electrical machines are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will engage in research-led teaching within the department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, highly regarded Engineering Department known for excellence in teaching, research, and graduate employability. In REF2021, 95% of our outputs were rated 3* or 4*. The department emphasizes research-led education across all levels. Durham's Engineering program is ranked 4th in The Complete University Guide 2025, 6th in The Guardian University Guide 2025, and 6th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025. We are ranked 2nd in Engineering after Cambridge according to a recent IFS report on graduate earnings.
